Canggu Beaches

Berawa Beach

Berawa Beach is located adjacent to Seminyak’s beachfront. It contains a mix of dark grey and black sand and is also home to one of Canggu’s largest lagoons. It’s a popular destination for surfers seeking a peaceful spot in Bali. Expect rocky reefs to help shape some excellent rights and a couple of lefts at high tide. Due to the strong undercurrents, recreational swimming is not recommended at Berawa Beach. However, unique beach bars provide beautiful settings for watching Bali’s famous sunsets.

Location

Echo Beach

Echo Beach Bali

Echo Beach is a notable surf area in Bali. It boasts sophisticated reef breaks, 180-degree seascapes and sunsets, and seafood cafés perched on a cliff. The black-sand beach is around 35 kilometres northwest of Kuta and Seminyak and 14 kilometres west of Denpasar, the province capital.

Surfers dominate the scene during the day before shifting to a more relaxed dining scene at night. Echo Beach is clean and well-maintained because of the collaborative efforts of numerous surf schools and clubs around Canggu’s coast, which conduct regular beach clean-ups.

Location

Nelayan Beach

Nelayan Beach is 3.5 kilometres of black sand between Canggu’s Pantai Batu Bolong and Berawa. This local fisherman’s landing provides privacy and a peaceful setting for sunsets. Two little river mouths mark each end of the beach. Several magnificent villas with tranquil retreats are just beyond the coconut groves. Note that the waves at Nelayan Beach could be better for surfing; instead, paddle out to adjoining Batu Bolong, which offers extended rights and lava-rock reefs.

Location

Pererenan Beach

Because of the numerous horse stables along the coastline, Pererenan Beach is one of the most popular horse-riding beaches on the island. Its eponymous village provides tranquil vistas with green rice fields, and the 700-metre-long beach is trendy for surfing. Between April and October is the ideal time to catch the waves. Due to the rough tides and undercurrents, swimming is not recommended at Pererenan Beach. However, it’s a good option if you want to avoid the throngs that frequent major beaches like Kuta and Double Six.

Location

Seseh Beach

Seseh Beach is a calm black-sand beach with fast, demanding, and generally lengthy lefts for skilled surfers. The beach is roughly 9 kilometres east of Tanah Lot Temple and about 1 km along Bali’s western shore. During the annual Melasti ceremony, several days before Nyepi Day (Bali’s day of silence), Seseh is also a popular pilgrimage destination for local Balinese Hindus.
